ABOUT DAVID

J. David Reed practices general civil, commercial, corporate, special district, and municipal law across southwestern Colorado.  Along with his expertise in transactions and estate planning, David has a reputation for providing second-to-none legal counsel.

 

David and his wife moved to the Western Slope from Texas, where he established his own practice in 1990. Giving back to the community is in David's blood. David was the former Mayor of Montrose and he served as Chairman of the Colorado Mesa University Board of Trustees. His other board appointments include the Montrose Community Foundation, Montrose County School District School Board, and Montrose City Council.

 

Growing up in the south, David completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Louisiana and went on to pursue a Juris Doctor at South Texas College of Law - Houston, where he graduated magna cum laude. Additionally, David was an Order of the Lytae E. E. Townes Scholar and a recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas.

 

David is a proud father and grandfather. The entire family enjoys spending time together outdoors. David also has two white German Shephard dogs who keep him on his toes when the grandchildren aren’t around.
